Priorities - Natural Resources

Our beautiful beaches, mountains, rivers and forests are an Oregon treasure. Protecting these assets and utilizing our resources responsibly is essential to the growth of our economy and the assurance of our quality of life.

Caddy is a strong proponent of a balanced approach to our natural environment. There is a pragmatic way for traditional ocean users, recreational and commercial fisherman, the scientific community, conservationists and proponents of emerging technologies to function in harmony. Making sure all stakeholders have a seat at the table working together is critical to the economic success of our community. As a skilled listener, careful thinker and successful mediator, Caddy will prioritize open, thoughtful discussion on important issues concerning our environment.

Caddy also served as a board member for the Energy Trust of Oregon for eight years. This organization promotes the wise use of power through efficiency, conservation and renewable power generation. In this position, Caddy was a strong voice for rural Oregonians in the ongoing conversation about sustainability. As a Port Commissioner, Caddy is investigating opportunities for investment in green technologies, including deep-water offshore wind and wave energy generation. With her diverse experience, Caddy hopes to bring a strong voice for a pragmatic approach to natural resources management to Salem.
